Most drivers believe that their car's air conditioning system, including the heater and cooler, doesn't require much care and maintenance. However, according to studies conducted in England, 56% of drivers do not use the air conditioning system during the cold seasons, and 43% believe that not using the system reduces fuel consumption.
Nevertheless, experts warn that not using this system for 3 months can decrease its performance in the summer. Conversely, the lack of fresh air circulation in the duct system causes suitable conditions for bacteria to grow and develop, which can cause respiratory problems and lung diseases in the summer. As a result, technical and health experts recommend using the car's air conditioning system during hot and cold seasons. Turning on the heater in the summer also prevents the radiator ducts from rotting and clogging.
On the other hand, scientific studies show that using the air conditioning system or A/C (abbreviation of Air Conditioner) at high speeds will save fuel consumption compared to lowering the glass.
At medium and high speeds, lowering the glass disrupts the airflow and increases the car's aerodynamic resistance coefficient, which increases fuel consumption.
